Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is a unique school. As a Title I school, our students come from a variety of different social and economic backgrounds with over 90% of our students receiving free lunch. Our school is the only school in the Los Angeles School District where students are placed in the most restrictive environment on a general education elementary school site. In 2006 our school welcomed the general education students into our specialized school. Creating a dynamic school community consisting of 50% special education students and 50% general education students.

Our school community prides itself in its efforts to integrate and create an inclusive environment for all our special education and general education students.

Our special education students have a wide range of academic abilities and needs that require them to be placed in a more restrictive environment where they can receive all the support they need in one place.

My Project

Please help give my classroom a vacuum, floor mop and fine motor skill activities/games. I am a Preschool Special Education teacher, my students are very young and we love to learn through play! It is important to me that my classroom is clean for their safety, but I also want them to be able to make a mess while they learn. Unfortunately, our donated vacuum stopped working right before winter break.

Providing a clean classroom environment by cleaning and vacuuming classrooms daily during the pandemic will help us keep our students healthy.
