Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We have a wonderful group of children who are eager to learn and explore new topics. Part of that involves working on the floor with materials, such as manipulatives and puzzles. Our problem is that we have a hard tile floor, which makes it difficult to sit for extended periods of time.

Our students are the best preschoolers around.

They are happy, interested, and eager to learn. They also have disabilities, which make learning more challenging for them. They have been diagnosed with a range of disabilities, such as developmental delay, autism, Down Syndrome, and speech and language delays. What makes our children's situation more challenging is that we are in an economically depressed area, so they don't always have access to the same things as typically developing children. What we are trying to do is create a learning environment that will excite them, and encourage them not only for their time in preschool, but ignite their passion for learning over a lifetime.

My Project

We will be using these rugs to help create learning areas that are inviting to the students, and encourage them to participate. Our students often use floor space to work and explore with manipulatives. Having rugs will allow them to do so on a softer, gentler surface, instead of a hard tile surface that makes sitting difficult for extended periods of time.

Your donation will make it possible to create an environment that is inviting and comfortable for the students.

It encourages participation by making it a place the students want to be. It also helps by making it easier to do something as simple as sitting and standing for a longer period of time.
