My Project

With the beginning of my third professional year as a teacher just around the summer bend, I want to get off on the right foot with a surplus of new, welcoming, and exciting resources and decor to introduce the New 6th Graders of Fort Greene Preparatory Academy to a classroom designed to inspire and cultivate learning.

As beautiful as our public school classroom is, the space is screaming for a makeover!

Within this order, I set my focus on three goals:

First, I hope to improve functionality and accessibility of learning for all students through tools to post anchor charts throughout the year, and whisk demonstrations and examples around the classroom with a portable whiteboard for clear visibility and access.

Second, I hope to nurture the warmth that the classroom gives off to the students via new wall and ceiling decorations and portable furniture for Reading Periods.

Also, I will refuel supplies and organizational tools for the students and teachers in the room, such as materials that live on student desks, (such as pencils, personal reader's/writer's notebooks, clean student whiteboards), and a grade book as well as a remote for changing Slides on the move.

I truly can't commend the students I've already had in my first three years as a teacher. Their drive, creativity, and persistence through challenges makes me want to improve as an educator. With these new materials, I aim to do just that. Overall, I've thought deeply about the tools and pieces that can make my classroom glow brighter than it did before, with the aim to make learning more accessible, create an openness take risks and feel motivated even through mistakes, and allow for more options and clarity for students to ask questions, get to work faster, and ultimately instill a love for learning!
