This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Do you remember the joy of reading a book in class with your peers? An excellent book for my sixth graders to explore crucial themes of childhood is Paul Zindel's, “The Pigman” and we need your help to get a class set.

We all want to model great friendships and deep relationships with family, and this book covers those bases beautifully and more.

Paul Zindel is a Pulitzer Prize winning author whose sensitive insights will engage and inpsire my brilliant, sensitive students.

It is a wonderful experience to observe children reading a book in class. When they read by themselves, they don't always have peers and a teacher to discuss the revelations they are having. But in class we can scaffold many aspects of reading, from vocabulary to character development to the very craft of authorship. Your donation makes all of this possible, and provides a foundation on which students can prosper as independent readers for years to come, and perhaps even adults in book clubs!
