My Students

My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. I want them to believe in themselves the way I do. The students in my classroom are comprised of general education students, as well as students with various learning and emotional disabilities. On top of educational and emotional disabilities, many of them have experienced trauma in their lives and have difficulty coming to school.

With that being said, how can we close the achievement gap when students do not have the necessary materials to succeed?

The typical student in my class reads below grade level and many struggles with basic phonics and number sense. Their desire to achieve success in school is the driving force behind our desire to give them the world.

My Project

With the next school year on the horizon and the continued uncertainty of what the school year will look like we are preparing to have all students return to the classroom. With that said, pre-pandemic our rosters could go as high as 30 students. Our ultimate goal is to have a working device for each student to use at school, and the addition of these 2 new Chromebooks will bring us one step closer.

These laptops will be immensely useful to my students.

Not only will it make accessing Google Classroom and other technology based learning platforms a breeze , it will also help improve their typing and computer literacy, an essential skill for 21st century students to learn.
