A Christmas Carol: A Classic Tale Loved by Many

My students need 35 copies of "A Christmas Carol" for a novel study, along with one "A Christmas Carol" DVD, and a few copies of "A Christmas Carol" graphic novels.

"Bah, humbug!" Does this sound familiar? It's the classic catch phrase by Ebeneezer Scrooge form "A Christmas Carol".

I teach Middle School Reading and Writing.

Our students come from varied backgrounds, but they are all excited to read this classic tale. They are enthusiastic readers and enjoy meeting every week with their Literature Circle to discuss their novels. We would like to begin reading this novel very soon, so if funded, that would help the school out a lot. They all read on different grade levels, but we will come together for this book which is sure to be the cherry on the cake this holiday season.

My Project

Students will read the novel together in their literature circle groups. Students will also have a hot cocoa reading with their parents. Students are excited to read this classic Dickens novel. It promotes text to real world connections and also a strong sense of community within the school and allows the children to explore the novel with their peers as well as their families. Students will also perform the play within their classrooms to further enhance their enjoyment of the book. This project will bring the students, teachers, and parents together for a final hot chocolate event at the end of December.
