Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My Transitional Kindergarten students are four and five years of age. This is the age that developmentally they need to be exploring, discovering, and be given the opportunity to interact with one another through their hands. In my class, we give them ample opportunities to use their own minds to discover and develop their critical thinking skills. In order to develop their speech and language, social skills, and learn concepts, they need to be provided with hands-on manipulatives throughout the day; they need these types of experiences. That is why I am asking for your help in providing me with these necessary supplies for our classroom. My school is a Title I school with a very diverse population. Many of whom are just learning English. These supplies will help develop their language through play with their peers and give them the opportunity to be submersed in language with their peers. The Fort building materials will give the students the opportunity to work together with one another to use their minds to build the fort of their dreams. The marble run will teach them concepts such as cause and effect, gravity, and other academic scientific concepts. We have LEGO bricks already in our classroom but my students truly need somewhere to keep them, and a structure to build off of. The LEGO table will be a great asset to my students' thinking skills, as well as in developing their fine motor skills in the process.
