My Students

My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. I want them to believe in themselves the way I do. The students in my classroom are comprised of general education students, as well as students with various learning and emotional disabilities. On top of educational and emotional disabilities, many of them have experienced trauma in their lives and have difficulty coming to school.

With that being said, how can we close the achievement gap when students do not have the necessary materials to succeed?

The typical student in my class reads below grade level and many struggle with basic phonics and number sense. Their desire to achieve success in school is the driving force behind our desire to give them the world.

My Project

As our students needs change, our classroom environments need to change along with it. That means providing children with furniture that meets the needs of 21st century learners.

By providing our students with flexible seating options we are giving them the tools they need to be successful.

The wobble stools will allow students the ability to wiggle at their desks while remaining seated and on task. Without the wobble stools students will seek that sensory input elsewhere, often times leading to more off task behaviors. The addition of these wobble stools to our classroom would enhance the learning experience of the students.
