My Students

My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. I want them to believe in themselves the way I do. The students in my classroom are comprised of general education students, as well as students with various learning and emotional disabilities. On top of educational and emotional disabilities, many of them have experienced trauma in their lives and have difficulty coming to school.

With that being said, how can we close the achievement gap when students do not have the necessary materials to succeed?

The typical student in my class reads below grade level and many struggles with basic phonics and number sense. Their desire to achieve success in school is the driving force behind our desire to give them the world.

My Project

Help bring our students the type of reading material that is diverse, socially conscious, engaging, and of course enjoyable to read. With an ever changing world, it is important to keep up with the diversity that is our wood. These books will be an educational and social journey for our children.

Your donation will also help bring light to the children as we continue to infuse our classroom libraries with book that have characters that look like them.

With more books that have characters that look like them, hopefully the more our students will be interested in reading for enjoyment!
