A Board To Keep Kids From Being Bored

Help me give my students a tablet for live interactive individualized work activities. If they are quadriplegic I can design a face board for their computer that moves.

My Students

I am a homebased teacher for Richmond Public Schools. Our homebased program consists of over 200 students home for a variety of reasons. My students are home based on disability, illness, unusual circumstances or even emotional crisis. Ironically COVID has placed us all at home and my students will be at a great risk due to not having personal visits. Richmond City is a Title I free lunch school system with federally funded support. Many of our resources are from donors like you. In fact for my program, we do not fall into the classroom resources so we have to supply our own resources from paper and pencils to actual technologies to support our students. I am happy to say that our system has provided computers and WiFi to all, now it is my job to keep their IEP current and come up with a unique online way to teach! With your help I am ready to roll!

My Project

Creating individual activities for students grades Kindergarten through Grade 12 is difficult to start but to be able to do it successfully online takes the proper tools. My students range from having specific reading difficulties such as dyslexia; having broad spectrum autism, and some are at home due to medical illness so great they can barely read their books, yet alone hold them up. My students are special and unique and I need the tools to help them be as successful in their homes on computers as they would be with me at their home.

Having this tablet/pad will allow me to design work that is modified specifically for each child’s needs.

I can create visual activities that they can touch and add to on their own screens. It will help to develop a new model approach to teaching children with disabilities who are stuck at home all year a round.

This unit will keep children from being bored and having difficulty working through the maze of online curriculum. It is the board of their future.
