My Students

I am asking for a variety of alphabet resources: alphabet games, tactile alphabet boards, Montessori letter boards, and alphabet tiles. I am also requesting boogie boards and tablets. We will be using these materials to work on our letter creation in a variety of kinesthetic and tactile ways.

My students have incredible energy and excitement for learning.

Because they have struggled in reading, they love the chance to get individualized attention, and they love that we get to use extra materials and special hands-on manipulatives to engage them in their reading. Although we have a high poverty rate at our school, my students overcome their challenges. They work hard, do all their homework, and put in the extra effort. When I ask my students about their goals for our group, every single student says, "I want to learn how to read!"

My Project

I am requesting a variety of materials to help my students interact with letters in new ways. I am requesting alphabet puzzles, sensory alphabet tiles, and magnetic alphabet tiles to help students who need more tactile and kinesthetic learning opportunities. I am requesting boogie boards to help make writing the letters more fun. The alphabet tablets will give students a chance to play fun games to reinforce their skills, and will also add a technology component that will help them with their computer skills. Finally, the alphabet games will be a fun way for us to work together and reinforce their skills. Since I pull small groups of students who are not on grade level, these resources will help them engage with the same lessons as their peers, but in a way that will stick, because they have learned it with hands-on materials.

Research shows that the reading level of a child in third grade predicts their future success.

I have a unique opportunity to catch my students up early, and get them on grade level. Please be a part of changing their lives!
