My Project

My students are readers and I need to keep them reading, so I need to continually fill my bookshelves with the most books that will engage them from beginning to end. Books that have survival themes are what my students want and need.

I have created ravenous readers in my English classroom.

In order to keep that hunger going and my students thriving, I need to make sure that the my bookshelves are filled with a variety of books about survival which is a topic that is highly engaging to 8th graders.

The books on this list are all highly attractive and engaging books to 8th graders. I share with my students that these are books that middle schoolers like them have also read and rate them highly. That peer approval is super important to get them to pick up those same books. Grabbing and fighting over who will get the book first is okay with me since the outcome is literate students!
