Help me give my students more creative writing opportunities through poetry. Our purple poetry portfolios will showcase a year's worth of creative writing.

My Project

My students have enjoyed writing a few poems so far, and now we want to build a portfolio of them. A purple poetry portfolio to be exact. I'd like to add some poetry collections to our class library with a wide variety of topics to inspire our writing. We will write a variety of poems, some rhyming and some not. To help us with our creativity, I'd like to add some rhyming dictionaries to our class library too. After poems are written we will illustrate them. I'd like to introduce them to watercolor pencils and various watercolor techniques as we illustrate their poems. The end project will be a purple poetry portfolio filled with their original poems and artwork. Every child can find success through poetry writing!
