Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

95% percent of my students receive free or reduced price lunches. They receive the same amount as the elementary children at our school even though they are teenagers. This means that they continue to be hungry during the day, and this may get in the way of their concentration.

My students are dynamic, funny, kind children who try their best.

Despite their home life and neighborhood circumstances, they are engaged in class, and they turn in homework daily. They care about grades, and they always log onto our system to check on their own progress. They are admirable. They care about their future, and they make that clear to me everyday when I see their growth and engagement.

My Project

I am requesting snacks for my students who always express that they are hungry. Many don't get enough food during lunch time, and they seem to be hungry all day. Because they are in such a crucial moment in their life, (puberty) they are growing by the minute! They are 8th graders, who exude energy all day, but don't seem to replenish it. Many can't afford snacks, and I have brought lunch for a few of them at times. Their families are struggling with basic needs.

Your support will assist me with food costs.

I will have a surplus of snacks when students express that they are hungry. They need to know that I am here for them, not just academically, but for higher purposes.
