Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
I have 7th and 8th grade students who have grown up in a digital age. They are so used to having computers in front of them or in their hands at all time. My students also come from lower income, less fortunate situations, usually where they do not always have the newest or greatest new technology to use.
What I would want is for all of my students to be able to use the newest technology available, to show them math in new and interesting ways.
Making math more tangible, and relate-able to them. My students love getting the opportunity to use iPads in my classroom. If it's for graphing or solving equations. With the iPads it has allowed me to keep students accountable and I can have them record their work and send it to me as an e file or as an exit ticket.
My students are extremely motivated to work hard and to get the classwork done when they are using iPads. Overall I just would love to keep my students engaged and with the time and age we are in the easiest way for me to accomplish this is with iPads.
My Project
I want to allow my students the ability to use the newest technology to graph and problem solve on an iPad that will project to the smart board. This brings my students great joy to show that they know how to do a problem and can show all the steps and work to other students.
The use of an iPad would allow me to meet the students where they are help them gain confidence in their mathematics skills.
My students aren't always super excited about coming up to the front of the classroom but love being able to be at their seats and show their work to the whole class. Showing their classmates how much they really know.
This iPad could be a game changer for my classroom management allowing me the opportunity to be anywhere in the room and control the entire classroom.
