Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a middle school Algebra 1 teacher, I strive to create an engaging and supportive learning environment that fosters curiosity and confidence in mathematics. To achieve this, I would love to have a podium in the front of the class where students can explain their strategies and reasoning behind their solutions. Also, I would like to decorate my classroom with posters of famous mathematicians, anchor charts illustrating rational and irrational numbers, number lines, and other visual aids that will reinforce key mathematical concepts.

My goal is to create a math-positive space where students feel empowered to take risks, ask questions, and develop a deep understanding of mathematical concepts.

By surrounding them with meaningful visuals, I hope to make abstract concepts more concrete and easier to understand.

Also, to foster a growth mindset by highlighting the contributions of mathematicians from diverse backgrounds and to create an environment where math is celebrated and seen as approachable rather than intimidating.
