This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Students have requested to read Dystopian novels for our Literature Circles unit, where students self-guide and lead their own book clubs. They get to choose the book out of a menu of options and read it at their own pace!

I have found that students struggle with reading longer material like novels.

I believe it's important to stretch their aptitude by challenging them with longer texts, while making it accessible by allowing them to choose topics, genres, or novels. They chose Dystopian novels, and are excited to read them!

All of these books are the appropriate Lexile level for 8th graders or adapted to suit my students' needs, including graphic novels.
