Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

When I see the cohort that I was blessed to work with my first year teaching, I feel so much for them. I used to be a student in a low income neighborhood too. I can see myself reflected in them. I also see a lot of hard working students who, not only doubt themselves a lot, but need additional support so that they feel motivated to push all the way to college!

Graduates of all ages and levels should be celebrated!

Unfortunately, there were so many changes to our school this year and our 8th graders did not receive any 8th grade activities. I would like to recognize the students by giving them stoles they can wear to culmination. Throwing them an end of the year party and being able to take their pictures to allow them to feel their hard work. Attaching those pictures to their cards with advice for their future.

I was beyond grateful to my teachers for the memories that they created for me and I would like to pay that forward! Having the hard conversations about our communities and the racial inequalities that they will live through. Being able to celebrate them for making it through and being present. It is difficult to understand these concepts of inequality, but I can show them what it feels like to have support. I look forward to celebrating them! To the graduating class of 2023!!!!
