8th Grade DES Class Library (Dream, Equity & Succeed)
Help me give my students high interest classroom library with an exciting collection of fiction and non-fiction books to connect and explore history and others life experiences
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My 8th-grade students are eager to be back in their classroom and to build a class library that opens up their world to award-winning authors such as Jason Reynolds, (young adult books and novels related to social justice), Steve Sheinkin, (author of suspenseful history books for young adult readers), and other authors that represent them as well as other cultures and identities.
My 29 8th grade ICT students are in a small, equity access K to 8 school, with one class per grade.
As the 8th GE teacher of ELA, math, social studies, and science, I looped up with my students from 7th, and they are excited to have a voice in building our library with books that speak to them.
