Help me give my students better access to their daily curriculum with noise-canceling headphones to help them focus without outside distraction, and individual pairs of headphones that will help students explore our curriculum beyond the 4 walls of our classroom.
This year, my classroom is home to twenty-nine energetic fourth graders. Each student in my class brings something new, exciting, and unique to our classroom. As a class, we work and act as a small community. We believe if we aren't learning together, we aren't learning to our fullest potential. Every day my students can be seen working together, learning together, and growing together.
To help my students continue to grow as innovative learners and critical thinkers, I would like to provide them with the necessary tools they need to be successful.
My project consists of two asks. The first is twelve pairs of noise-cancelling headphones. A group of twelve noise-cancelling headphones will allow a small group to work independently by reducing auditory distraction and improving concentration. Students need differentiated instruction in a small group setting to help them catch up, learn at their own pace, or challenge them. Giving them a space to learn independently without distractions for the 17+ students will help them grow academically, build confidence, and gain independence. Using noise-cancelling headphones will help students retain more information allowing them to be stronger contributors to our class and our discussions.
The second ask of this project is for a class set of headphones. Every day in our classroom, our students engage in various activities on their Chromebooks. These activities include literacy programs, differentiated math games, educational videos, and more. By providing my students the opportunity to learn online, it opens the door to real-world and interactive work. Incorporating access to computer-based and online opportunities helps my students become more adaptable and empathetic learners. A class set of headphones allows for all my students to participate in online learning altogether.
