My Project

My first graders are curious, creative, and eager to explore the world around them. They thrive when learning is hands-on and engaging. That’s why I’m passionate about bringing science into our classroom through read-aloud books paired with corresponding STEM projects. These materials will help us dive deeper into the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) in a way that’s both impactful and memorable.

The specific items I’m requesting—carefully selected books that correlate with NGSS standards being taught in the Science Lab.

These picture books will help students relate what they learned in science lab through a read aloud. After, they will be able to participate in a STEAM lesson that corresponds with the picture book. For example, Moon! Earth's Best Friend focuses on NGSS Standard (1-ESS1-1-) which focuses on the observations of the sun, moon and stars to desccribe patterns that can be predicted. By seeing science come to life in this way, they’ll not only grasp the material better but also develop critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a love for inquiry.

My goal for this project is to create a dynamic learning environment where science isn’t just something we read about—it’s something we experience and understand deeply.
