My Project

The Narrative Non-fiction unit is a very important one for my 6th grade students. As they are becoming mature readers, they are starting to be ready to dig deeper into books and to search for and understand complex central ideas and see how those themes are woven through the entire book.

My students are ready for the challenge of Narrative Nonfiction, and I can't wait to see what they discover!

We will form small book clubs and engage in read-alouds, question generation, and rich in-depth discussions about each story. By having a selection of titles, I hope to be able to offer every child a tale on a topic they are interested in and will be excited to learn more about. They'll learn to take notes on the topic and then use these notes to create detailed essays, which they will also share in their book clubs.
