My Project
I’m thrilled to introduce the OpenSciEd curriculum to my high school biology class. This program is recognized for its alignment with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), and it emphasizes Science and Engineering Practices, Crosscutting Concepts, and Disciplinary Core Ideas (DCI). Unlike traditional teaching methods, OpenSciEd offers a three-dimensional learning experience, where students engage deeply with the material, think critically, and connect science to real-world applications.
The materials I’m requesting will be essential in making this hands-on, interactive learning experience possible.
With these tools, students will conduct experiments, participate in problem-solving activities, and see firsthand how biology intersects with the world around them. My aim is for students to move beyond memorizing facts and instead develop a deeper understanding of how science works in everyday life.
My primary goal is to create a classroom where students are equipped to think critically and are inspired to pursue sustainability initiatives. By using a NGSS-aligned, storyline-based approach, I want to help students make meaningful connections between their classroom learning and real-life situations. Additionally, my students will be working on projects that align with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), allowing them to use their scientific knowledge to tackle real-world challenges and develop interdisciplinary solutions.
My students are curious, motivated, and passionate about making a difference. They are not content with just learning the material—they want to understand how it can be used to solve problems and make the world a better place.
