After attending a Language Arts class during the SRVUSD Summer Innovation Summit, I have been inspired to improve my non-fiction classroom library. I teach 5th grade in a community that is rich in diversity. They are hard working students and they are always eager to learn. Through non-fiction books, my goal is to expand their vocabulary and knowledge through real word texts. I want to cultivate their curiosity about the world around them and ignite inquiry. I have learned many new strategies that will not only help to improve their reading skills but push them into a journey of discovery.
