I teach a wonderful group of 4 and 5 year old Transitional Kindergarten (TK) students from a small community. This is such a magical age, and I love seeing how excited my students are to learn and play every day! They are full of curiosity and are so eager to soak up as much as they can. It is a gift to be part of their first experience in elementary school.
While academics are an important part of school, children at this age do a lot of their learning through play.
This is only the second year our school has had a TK class, which is a wonderful opportunity for these kids, but also means we are still lacking in quality play materials and need to build up a selection of open ended toys that encourage our TK students to use their creative imaginations and foster learning through play. The sensory bin, dress up materials, and toys I've selected would do exactly that! I know my students would love them and that we'd take great care of them so future TK classes can enjoy them as well.
