Dystopian Book Clubs and Snacks for Inquisitive 8th-Grade Learners

My Project

During the 2nd quarter of the school year, the 8th-grade general education core teachers create small book clubs in class and learn how dystopian fiction provides insight into current social issues and your role in society. This unit is educational for my students, as they explore more into dystopian fictional societies and how they provide insights into today's society.

In our unit, students will read books, such as Tankborn and The Marrow Thieves, that will help provide them with a dystopian fictional insight into current social issues.

This helps my students really imagine how these societies provide insights into current social issues and the role students play in society. In our group discussions, students will share their understandings and hear and analyze each other's perspectives. They will learn to become thoughtful speakers and listeners as they comprehend this complex concept.

I'm also asking for snacks such as those in the Snack Box Care Package for students to use while reading and studying. The students in my class are often hungry for a snack before lunch. They often ask for chips or a bag of popcorn to snack on in class while they complete work.
