My Project

I lead group and individual counseling for students in a counseling-enriched program. Students in this program have social-emotional difficulties that impede their learning. These students are incredibly creative and artistic and express themselves through art.

All materials will be used for projects that relate to emotional needs and counseling goals.

The materials such as paint, brushes, pipe cleaners, glitter glue, glitter, and easel roll, will all be used in art therapy exercises (painting, drawing, collages, projects, etc.). The adhesive chart paper will be used during group counseling sessions in order to provide a visual summary of concepts learned and to brainstorm during discussions. The visual summaries will then be saved and displayed throughout the classroom. The Sharpie pens will be used for projects such as decorating our yearly DIY kites (in which students write their anxiety triggers) and individual plant holders for our growth mindset garden project. The expo markers will be used for our dry erase board which is utilized during group counseling sessions.
