I teach in a high poverty and severe generational trauma community. Our students have been effected by Covid 19 in some of the most severe ways and continue to be effected. Parents cannot often provide needed items or requested items needed for their child's learning. I would love to give my children a great learning experience that promotes a deeper level of thinking by using the OSMO products, with FIRE tablets required for these, to help my students and other students that come to my classroom with some hands-on deeper level thinking with these items. I also utilize flexible seating as I believe children learn best when they can choose how they want to learn. The rugs would allow alternate places in my classroom for that. Also, due to the trauma and often having children with sensory needs in my classroom I am requesting the light covers to aide in their sensory needs. Lastly, the snacks are a big request as our school used to receive funding to feed our students a much needed 3rd meal at the end of the day since many will go home to no dinner. Unfortunately, we lost that funding so I will be providing food for them. The snacks requested will just be a small portion in what will be needed to feed them but will help with that financial cost. Our kiddos deserve the best learning environment they can experience and I hope that the items requested will help to give them an enhanced learning experience and provide for their physical and emotional needs as well.
