Hands-On Sensory Bins in Kindergarten

Help me give my students materials to create educational sensory bins filled with sand, feathers, and objects related to what we are learning.

My Project

Kindergarten is by definition hands-on learning. Students this age touch everything they see and are constantly experimenting and learning new things. It is such an exciting time! But how does a teacher keep 22 five and six year olds interested in learning every day?

Sensory bins enable students to explore with their hands while also practicing educational skills.

Instead of simply matching upper-case and lower-case letters on a piece of paper, now students sort through sand, seashells, and ocean animals to find upper-case and lower-case cards that match. These bins will have different themes and cards will be switched out as we begin practicing new skills throughout the year.
