Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students at my school are simply amazing! Our neighborhood is a beautifully diverse urban area and our students, families, and faculty come together to create a incredibly cohesive school community. The students share their cultures, beliefs, and ideas while they work together to learn and grow.
Our students are creative, curious, collaborative, critical thinkers!
They are always up for a challenge and love to work toward finding unique and innovative solutions to real-world problems. They thrive with hands-on activities and project-based learning units that incorporate many different aspects of the curriculum. I couldn't be prouder to work with these young scholars who consistently demonstrate perseverance, pride, respect, responsibility, and kindness.
In our STEM Lab, all students in grades K-5 have the opportunity to become engineers. These new supplies will add depth and variety to our Environmental Engineering Units. Kindergarten and First grade students will explore plant life cycles and grow their own plants from seeds. First graders will also learn about UV light from the sun and explore ways to keep safe from these rays. Second and third graders will make elastic band cars as they explore force and motion with a tie in to clean energy. Fourth graders will create wind turbines as they learn about renewable and nonrenewable resources.
