Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
A kidney table is not only an ideal shape for small group instruction but it is targeted for specific content intervention. For my students, they will be learning phonics, reading and writing. This type of table will provide individualized support for mastering content and promoting deeper learning. I meet exclusively with students who have been carefully chosen through formative and summative assessments and specific criteria in order to target the needs of each student in the small group.
A kidney table is designed so that -- as a reading teacher-- I can meet with the students in a small group capacity and individually --all at the same time!
I will be sitting at the center of the table and work through each child as they complete the activity while focusing on the particular needs of each student.
These types of tables are sought after by all types of teachers: reading, interventionists, special education, EL teachers and classroom teachers. The kidney table allow students to work collaboratively all the while having their work differentiated and reviewed individually by teachers.
The students at my school come from a low-income community. Their goals is to be able to learn and apply their learning to help their families and themselves as they build a solid foundation of their education. Please consider donating so that every child has the opportunity to flourish.
