My Project
Hello there! As a 13-year veteran teacher, I have noticed over the past several years that my students have been missing out on the area of computer science. I hope to rectify this situation and provide my students with hands-on learning opportunities in coding.
In 2018, our area code was ranked as the second most impoverished area code in the United States, and believe me, my students feel the weight of living in a low-socioeconomic area daily.
My goal is to provide rich educational opportunities regardless of economic status. My students are constantly overcoming adversity, working hard to end generational poverty, and looking for ways to better themselves. I believe my students are every bit as capable as higher-income students and I would love the chance to use hands-on programmable instructional technology to pique their interest and allow them to see the creative side of coding.
One way I hope to utilize these kits is by using the Makey Makey Kits in conjunction with the programs my students code in Scratch. I would love for my students to be able to use the Makey Makey Kits to use as controllers to bring their coded games and scenes to life. I believe this will generate much interest for our coding course.
I cannot begin to tell you how much these Makey Makey Kits would help to encourage and engage my students in computer science and coding. Thank you for your consideration!
