My Project
My students are some of the most amazing people that I know. They have all dealt with trauma and many are still dealing with it every day. They attend a Title I, low income, high needs school and for many it is their safe place. Giving them a place to learn where they can relax, move, and expend energy helps their brains focus.
Children are not mean to sit in a hard chair at a desk for multiple hours per day.
Their brains need oxygen to learn and by allowing them to wobble, rock, bounce, stand and lean they feed their brain the oxygen it needs! By using floor desks the students can move around the room and learn where they can best focus. The exercise balls enable them to move while they listen and work, helping them to stimulate their brains with motion. The picnic table allows for collaboration and socialization.
