The CityLab Maker Space is an opportunity for students to learn how they can be become makers and the science, design thinking, and engineering behind their creations. Students become the creators in our lab versus the consumers- they understand how the thinking and process behind creating things they use in everyday life and apply those skills using materials in tools in our lab. Not only do the students walk away with something they have created but a sense of pride of what they have accomplished. Most recently, we have started talking about our favorite forms of self care and shower steamers have piqued our makers interested.
Help our lab stalk materials to create shower streamers so our students can learn more about the science behind aroma therapy and how to create their own shower steamers with their favorite sense.
Shower steamers are a great way for students to make connections to chemistry, self care and maker space. The materials purchase for this project will allow may students to learn why it is important to measure ingredients out correctly, how certain scents can allow us to relax while other scents can energize, and how to save money to create their own steamers. The materials can also be used by students utilize the maker space after school or for a personal project.
Shower Steamer project will be a great project for all makers in CityLab especially in the upcoming months. Learning how to create their own steamers and having access to these supplies may encourage students to create their own gifts for Mothers and Fathers Day and graduations as well as a coping stragety or stress reliever for upcoming final projects and testing.
