Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am so fortunate to work with a diverse group of students who are thoughtful, inquisitive learners! They are truly global citizens whose collective vision for why they come to school this year is "to learn all we can to be successful so that we may help others." Students of all cultures, backgrounds, and income levels are valued in our classroom and in our school.
These materials will be used by students so that they may integrate math skills into a gift in honor of Mother's Day for someone who cares for them.
Students will harvest lavender from our class garden and then work collaboratively to follow a recipe, using measurements and fractions to create a lavender hand scrub. Students will also be able to package this in small jars which they will label and prepare for gift-giving!
