Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Children are scientists by nature. I love that my fifth graders are innately curious about a variety of science-related topics. They are full of questions and they love researching facts and information about the world around them... and beyond.
I'd love to encourage my students' curiosity through science investigations and hands-on experiments!
Our curriculum covers a variety of topics, such as earth science, life science, chemistry, engineering, and the science of matter. With a few scientific instruments, I will be able to conduct experiments under the document camera to engage students in the scientific method. These investigations along with science-themed informational texts will build academic vocabulary and better help my students understand scientific concepts.
The materials on this list will encourage young scientists to conduct their own research, ask questions, think critically, conduct experiments, explain their reasoning, explore new ideas, and write about science! More importantly, they will have the opportunity to cultivate their appreciation for science, promote creative solutions, and solve problems for years to come.
