Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

I have 21 amazing first grade students who come for severe poverty. Each day they come to school and engage in learning and push through all road blocks. They are truly my heroes! Each student puts their best foot forward with a smile on their faces even though I know the troubles they face outside of school each day. I have 4 students with IEP's and 1 on a 504 plan. Most of my students are below grade level, but that does not stop their gains and wanting to learn! My classroom truly is a family and we support each other through the ups and downs.

These items will be used in the classroom to help facilitate their learning.

The ability to remove some of the burden their families cannot help would be a tremendous relief. The students need these items for learning. The notebooks will be used for phonics and math everyday! Pencils are lost and need to be replaced often. Home communication folders are necessary to send important documents home and to show off all of their hard work each week! Each item on this list helps in their daily learning. The lamination sheets help to create center for literacy and math as well as to laminate work they are proud off to look back at in many years.
