My Project

I want to help all students at my school site, my community, and train other staff members on the importance of social emotional wellness, mindfulness, and yoga. I work at a Title-One school site in a socioeconomically disadvantaged community. Most of the students at my school are second language learners and many of them are refugees. By attending this training, I will become an official Social Emotional Wellness Facilitator and I can spread my knowledge and help children to be happier, healthier, and have positive growth mindset. In addition, it will be my goal to lead wellness workshops to enhance the overall community by teaching the importance of developing positive mindfulness strategies, and strong social emotional foundation amongst all.

I currently teach at an elementary school that has the largest population of refuges in the United States.

My students need more positive opportunities of wellbeing, mindfulness, and social emotional learning. By attending this training, I will be able to positively effect and support my school's community by encouraging social emotional wellbeing amongst all children. I also will be able to train others and encourage my school's staff to use SEL practices to help their students as well. I want to study powerful mind-body wellness practices like yoga/mindful movement, mindfulness, breath work, social-emotional learning, and community building strategies that will positively impact my classroom and my entire school.
