This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in the South Bronx in New York. My students come from varied ethnic backgrounds and races, but all in the same neighborhood.

I am the IEP Coordinator of a sixth grade through twelfth-grade school and work with our Special Education Department.

We strive in creating a Special Education Department that fully supports our students academically and socially, and we are preparing them for a future that includes college and career.

With your help, we can be better prepared to support them.

My Project

By adding these amazing resources to my classroom, my special education students will be a part of the water cycle, creating it and seeing how it happens. That isn't something you get from a textbook. The new posters, Biome Bingo, and other supplies would be so beneficial to supplement my curriculum for the rest of the year.

As I am becoming a more experienced middle school teacher, I have learned that students learn Science best when they are actively involved in an activity.

I have seen improvement in my special ed students scores when they are creating and a part of Science, as opposed to when they are just taking notes and reading.
