Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in the South Bronx in New York. My students come from varied ethnic backgrounds and races, but all in the same neighborhood. My students face struggles just trying to come to school and return home safely. They are usually without school supplies like pencils and notebooks and even have difficulty completing projects at home because of lack of supplies.

My students are in 6th grade and classified as Special Education, but they are so awesome and work so hard, I want to be able to provide them with every opportunity possible.

They deserve every possible support in their favor to help them learn.

My Project

Materials like plant kits, science kits, and discovery kits will give my students a more hands on approach to learning and problem solving. Students today need content to shown to them in a variety of ways, visual, auditory and kinesthetic. I already use visual and auditory methods, I need the kinesthetic strategies to support my lessons.

With the use of the items on my list, I can supplement my lessons and give my students the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of the content.

Students may say they know and understand, but until they can demonstrate it, we don't truly know. Hopefully with your generous donations I will be able to get these resources.
