This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in the South Bronx in New York. My students come from varied ethnic backgrounds and races, but all in the same neighborhood.

I am the IEP Coordinator of a 6th grade-12th grade school and work with our Special Education Department.

We strive in creating a Special Education Department that fully supports our students academically and socially, and we are preparing them for a future that includes college and career.

With your help, we can be better prepared to support them.

My Project

In the South Bronx, our students are striving to succeed in their education and move on to college, but it is hard to do when you don't have the basic supplies. The materials I am requesting are needed in all classrooms, but are not always available.

Your donation can provide my classroom with the necessary, basic supplies that all students and teachers need.

It may all seem simple, but the vast majority of my students come to school without a pencil or pen or binders for class. The smallest donation can support us in keeping our classroom clean with the Lysol wipes, looking inviting with the borders and laminated word walls. Other supplies requested are a Science Activity book to give us new ideas on Science Labs and activities for the students to do independently. An individual clipboard for each class to track homework assignments and participation. These are all materials that keep us teachers organized, which sets the students up for success!
