This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The special education community at our school is full of bright, energetic kids eager to learn about themselves and the world. We design our program to enable each and every kid to build new skills and competencies by leveraging their individual strengths and interests.
When kids can look forward to following their own creative instincts in purposeful play, their engagement in all school activities gets a boost.
The items in this grant will allow me to offer a wide range of open-ended play options to my students. Magnet tiles and other similar toys promote creativity, collaboration, and offer news ways to play each and every time. The structure of board games helps kids improve communication and self-control-- all while having a blast!
Play brings all kids together, regardless of variations in academic ability. As kids work together to create, build, take turns, and share, their life and language skills blossom. Our lower grade special ed kids can truly shine when we let them dive into the joy of purposeful play!
