Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach 8th grade students. My students are polite, respectful, and growing up to be the best version of themselves. They are dedicated to do their best every day. Eighth grade is a vital year for them, as it helps prepare them for the challenges they may face in high school. My students are aware of the importance of this critical point in their education.
The purchase of these young adult books will foster long life readers.
The books are going to make a huge impact on the reading lives of my students. These books are critical in engaging my students and exciting them about reading, a necessary life skill.
Without these books, students would not have access to a variety of reading choices, which is imperative to cement lifelong readers.
Reading serves three goals for my students. The goals that my students aim to achieve are for them to increase the volume of reading. Another is to increase the complexity of their reading. Lastly, it is critical that they leave middle school and strongly identify with either a specific author or genre.
A teacher's classroom library must constantly be updated with the most recent publications and popular young adult books. A fresh and up-to-date library of books across all the genres promotes a continued interest in reading.
