My Students

Students at our Performing Arts Club are full of unique personalities and talents. They are creative, funny, dramatic and energetic. Our students love to be on stage. They love to showcase their talents and push themselves to different levels that they are proud of. I enjoy working with my students.

Many of our students are reading below grade level.

The Performing Arts club allows students to develop their reading skills. Reading aloud demonstrates the relationship between the print word and meaning. So drama will help to improve our students' reading, speaking, social skills and listening abilities, as well as vocabulary. My goal is to use drama to increase my students reading level.

My Project

Every year, our students are eager to perform for our annual Black History Month show. This is an event that our community—students, staff, and parents—all eagerly await. For many, this allows an opportunity to see the contributions of people with whom they identify. The dedication and creativity our students possess as they bring their ideas to life deserve to be showcased. Unfortunately, much of our equipment is antiquated and therefore unreliable. Our current microphones chip in and out and the attached wires are a concern during performances, especially for some of our younger students. Obtaining wireless hands-free microphones, would allow for our performers to show their craft seamlessly and in a manner that makes them proud of their accomplishments.
