Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My 5th grade class has worked so hard this year despite the adversities they face in their personal lives. Each student has improved between 1-3 grade levels in reading since August 2021. I have 22 succesful and hard working students that all have earned a 5th grade promotion before being sent off to middle school.

These students live in Oakland CA, and are in a Title I school.

They live in poverty, all are English Language Learners, and some have just migrated to the United States this year alone. These students do not have easy access to new books or clothes even.

I would like to provide each and every student a book at graduation for their summer reading so they do not fall behind. I also would like to be able to have help uniting our class and gifting graduation shirts that they have worked so hard for. Your help will be able to join me in giving my students a graduation they will remeber and have earned. You also will be sharing the love of summer reading with these students.
