My Project

This project will be funded by a National Science Foundation Grant through The Center for Technology and School Change (a part of Teachers College at Columbia University).

This is CTSC's third grant from the National Science Foundation to study ways of supporting educators in designing and implementing authentic, project-based learning practices in STEM.

Too often, schools are told to adopt STEM, but what does it really mean, and what does it really take to do it well?

This project will allow our students to conduct their project-based learning unit on floods. Materials will be used for students to collaboratively create innovations that will help put an end to flooding issues in their community. They will be using the STEM materials such as clay, sand, straws, and legos to design and build a flood barrier prototype that they can test. The printer will be used to print the students final projects, timelines, and data so that we can display student work.
