Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

How can you possibly do math in pen! My fifth grade students, Math Magicians, need to have the proper tools to be able to excel in mathematics. The Math Magicians are building math skills and increasing their desire to learn through fun activities.

I am a fifth grade teacher in a pre k-8th grade school.

Most of my students come from very low economic family status. My students all come from lower income families. Many of these children face poverty, violence, and obscenities of life on a daily basis, that are well beyond what most of us could imagine. Yet, my students do their best to learn. I try my best to give them a good education and an introduction to the American way of life, but with limited resources there are many things that others consider basic parts of education that I cannot provide without assistance. Many of them do not come to school with the correct supplies needed to succeed. Their parents are not able to supply them with simple school supplies.

My Project

My students need pencils, a pencil sharpener, dry erase markers, erasers, and cleaner. Allow students to work together in small groups or as a larger group. Students will facilitate learning during the math games they create by asking questions that encourage other students to use what they know about math to find the answer. Students are guided though thinking and highlighting important mathematical concepts through modeling, asking questions, and facilitating conversations with and between students The cost of this proposal is $258, which includes shipping for any materials requested and fulfillment.

Having the opportunity to have these needed supplies available in my classroom would give my students the opportunity to continue the school year with the tools they need to succeed in today's math world.

They will have what they need to succeed and strive to reach their goals. My students have been working hard all year on math skills to help them to achieve success on their CMT tests. Our Math Magicians are engaged in meaningful mathematical problem-solving experiences.
