This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This year I have 25 5th graders. More than half of my kiddos are below 5th grade level. I noticed that the library of books that were provided to me isn't interesting to my kiddos. I saw that some books were not entertaining to my kiddos. When it comes to reading time, they are not actually reading. It feels like pulling teeth sometimes. I asked them what is it. They told me that their reading level books are boring or they already read it. They want to read something interesting that attracts them. My kiddos love to read and I know it sounds off but in their free-time they ask me if they can read instead of doing something on the computer. To me, it amaze me because they want to read but how could they if they don't have interesting books.
