Library of Social Emotional Learning Read Aloud Books-PreK-5th Grade
Help me give my students the social emotional learning skills necessary to navigate their formative years by supplying our classrooms with picture books that hone in on those skills.
Our Preschool to 5th grade students are excited to be back in the classroom! They are a hard working, high achieving group of kids. Our student population is quite diverse in ethnicity, social backgrounds and income levels.
We realize that many students are struggling to make the adjustment to being in a busy setting, surrounded by peers that they haven't seen in a year and a half.
We take pride in our community spirit which promotes equity and inclusion and kindness to all and continually strive to promote the skills necessary for them to be a positive member of our community.
We are hoping to raise funds to build a staff library of picture books that reinforce character traits such as empathy, self esteem, appreciation of diversity and more.
My Project
As we all know, schools teach more than just academics. Especially during these times of pandemic unknowns, students need strategies for coping with all sorts of adversity; having been isolated from friends and family, possibly struggling with navigating their studies at home, and even having family impacted by illness or death due to covid.
We want to create a library of picture books that would allow students to see themselves in the stories that could help them build the skills of empathy, compassion, kindness, self regulation and appreciation for diversity.
Please support our school in creating a collection of books that students at all levels, PreK to 5th grade, will be able to connect with and learn invaluable lessons from.
