I have been teaching at this school for many years. It has been so wonderful to see all the changes around campus, and the excitement of our students as we opened our new school building.
The kids are always thrilled to walk onto campus, and always have so much energy!
I am fortunate to be their PE teacher in middle school. Middle school students are able to learn and master all kinds of new skills, and are beginning to understand the benefits of exercise and the importance of pushing themselves. They are able to see the benefits when they do so, and I love seeing them grow in that way.
My Project
My school was so fortunate to receive a major makeover -- almost full rebuild! - in the last few years. The new classrooms are amazing! It is also wonderful to have so much more space at school, for everything. Because of the extra space, we can finally start to build a "workout space" for students, where we can teach them about activities that they can do for the rest of their lives.
Middle schoolers are ready to move into the next stage of advanced exercise, and stationary bikes are an important part of that new adventure.
Our long-term vision is to build a separate "workout space", almost like a mini-gym, where students can learn about and master all of the skills they'll need to workout in outside gyms or exercise rooms. These three stationary bikes will be a big step to making that happen. We will continue to count on community support to build up this area, to add weights and other machines.
The exercise bikes are also wonderful because most students this age enjoy riding bikes, so it will be nice to teach them how to care for and change the settings on these bikes. It will also give us a great activity to do on a rainy day!
